Die Sufis haben die Qualitäten Gottes erforscht und sie in zwei Aspekte unterteilt: in die Qualität der Schönheit (Jamal) und die Qualität der Majestät und Herrlichkeit (Jalal). Der Jalal-Aspekt bringt uns mit dem göttlichen Gesetz in Kontakt. Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee beschreibt in den ersten beiden Vorträgen den Jamal- und den Jalal-Aspekt und geht ausführlich auf das göttliche Gesetz ein. Im dritten Vortrag zeigt er anhand einer Erzählung auf, wie sich im Verlaufe der Geschichte weibliche und männliche Machtstrukturen gebildet haben, die gegen ein höheres göttliches Gesetz aufbegehren.

Wenn die Absicht der Menschen mit einer höheren Absicht übereinstimmt, kann daraus ein wirkliches Zusammentreffen der Welten entstehen, in dem ein höherer Sinn vollständig gegenwärtig ist. Das Ziel eines spirituellen Pfades ist es, das Alltagsbewusstsein auf die höhere Absicht der Seele auszurichten. Sarraj war einer der ersten Sufi Meister, der im 10 Jahrhundert gewisse Regeln niedergeschrieben hat, die helfen, sich auf die höchste Absicht der Seele auszurichten. Er hat über die sieben Stationen gesprochen: Reue, Wachsamkeit, Entsagung, Armut, Geduld, Vertrauen, Annehmen.

Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee beschreibt im ersten Vortrag die Wichtigkeit der bewussten Absicht. In den folgenden Vorträgen erläutert er die sieben Stationen von Sarraj und zeigt auf, wie diese auch heute noch aktuell sind.

This series of talks describes seven basic principles needed by the wayfarer on the Sufi path, from Repentance to Poverty and finally to Acceptance. Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee weaves these principles with examples of contemporary life, offering a way to live in relationship to the divine, keeping the attention of the heart and mind always turned towards God. Sarrâj was a 10th century Sufi from the Iranian region of Khurasan. He wrote the first systematic exposition of Sufism as a way of life and thought.

The first talk also explores the role of divine law and the significance of its return to our world.
